I think that I'm going to revalve my shocks on my 03 viper. Heard pioneer is is the best. My question is for those that have done this did you just do the 2 rear shocks or all 4. Thanks

I did all 4 and I think its best to do all four on the viper. The sled handled so much better and actually allowed some suspension travel! It was very tolerable over the bumps, still no cadillac but I loved it. Felt like a go kart in the twisties. If I don't like the handling of my RX1 I'm getting a viper again, NOTHING could hang with it and the driver made very little difference we would swap sleds and the viper always won through the turns. I had PP do it and it was the best thing I did for the sled.

The previous owner of my sled had all four revalved... i got it and had the rear shocks rebuilt (back end sagging a little). Hope it rides as good as my cat did now.. i know it will last longer!!!

I did all 4 on my 03 viper, from pioneer, and it was a good investment. I was very happy with pioneer too, they are great to deal with
Do you think it would be a good idea to have the replacement shocks on my 02 revalved? I am picking up a new set since my 02 never had the recall done to it.
Is it worth it to have a brand new set from Yamaha revalved or are the replacements a huge improvement as well?

I have a 03 and the sleds feels good but, it looks like people with 03 had them done too? Why and what was difference and cost for all 4 at Pioneer?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Contact info for Pioneer
I tried to find Pioneer on the internet a while back to get a phone number but had no luck. Anyone have their contact info?
Thanks,
Matt

pioneerperformance.net I think is the site
I had my 03 done because I weigh about 160-165 lbs, and the viper was pretty harsh trail riding. since I ride groomed trails I thought it would be nice to not be bounced off the seat. revalve was a lot better in the small trail chatter, it actually stroked instead of just bouncing. a LOT better. but I wanted super smooth, like never feel the bumps, so now I have a monoshock awaiting install

Does anyone know if the 2002 replacements (recall) are just 03 shocks, or are they valved entirely different?

if i remember correctly 03s were marketed with 2 different setups. ER models had a "softer" ride and standard vipers had a more "aggressive" setup. so it depends on which shocks you are comparing to the 02. but i think the 03 standard were very similar to the original 02.

They are 03 Viper ER Shocks - most people say they are too soft.

the standard 03 is in the middle of the revalve adn standard 02 shocks O thought. the er in 03 was even plusher. better trail setup. only too soft if you are house jumping
