im looking to get into vintage sleds, i have a new apex er but i always think about the older sleds and how much more fun they seemed like to ride. Maybe its because i was younger than and didnt have a sore back when i was done riding. I was looking for a 79 or 80 scorpian whip like i had as a kid but i think the yamaha would be easier to find parts for, because i dont want to restore a old sled and leave it in the garage, i want to ride sometimes. My friend all think im crazy but it seems like fun. Tell me what you guys think.

Exciters were bulletproof. I don't think you could go wrong buying one of those. I know there is one on johndee.com for 500 that looks awesome. Been in a basement or garage or something for about 20 years.

They are like the GPX and SRX in a more reliable package that you can ride around on more casually and not worry about blowing up as much. As far as old trail-sport sleds go, the Exciters are probably the best overall ones of their time..late 70's-Early 80's.
Whips are really nice too but you're right, they would be a little more difficult to get parts for. I had a 76' Massey Whirlwind, same as a Whip but with 2 headlights, what a beautiful sled!
