I replaced the hifax in the Venture (touring) the other day, and had a lot of trouble lining up the hole for the bolt that attaches the hifax at the front of the track. Ended up stripping the bolt. It the bolt really necessary (the old hifax were REALLY stuck and difficult to remove even after unbolting them). Thanks.

at high speeds with out the bolt exspecialy after they get heated up they rip right off. that could cause alot damage to to skid or track.

Yes it's necessary.

There is nothing quite as much fun as trying to unwrap a hyfax out of a track/skid on the side of the trail. Then limping it home while trying not to destroy the rail. Oh the memories.

Just use a nut and bolt for the Hyfax, this way you won't have a problem with it again...

i think it was ding who had a problem with this. i remember him sayin something about going in reverse and seeing the hyfax sitting on the ground in front of him!

Close sxviper32, It was me, and Ding had asked how it happned. BTW without my trusty brush ax I keep in my backpack, I would have never been able to make tools to get the hyfax back on in the first place.
