OK im lookin gat buying a new sled i currently have a 97 sx 700, and looking to get something newer and faster, ive narrowed my search down to a viper, srx, or mxz 800.

Which is the fastest. My budy has a srx and destroys my 97, so would lik eto have something that could take him.

which sled is more reliable.

which sled has more potential

which sled is more fuel efficient

as of now im leaning tawards the viper, because im not a big fan on the srx suspention. Feed back please.

mxz800 is not going to be faster, and less fun to watch your buddies ride yamahas while yours in in the shop getting pistons and rings and a crank. So unless you have a good friend with a 2-up Yammy that will take you along...get a Viper. Great ride, little better economy than the SRX, not as tempermental .... (single pipe)

Go with the srx. It is more reliable, has more potential and I believe better fuel economy. The mx-z will have a better ride so find an sc10-3 skid and put it in the srx. That's what I'm going to do.

I would say the Ski-doo is a Ski-Don't especially if it is a 2003-04. The SRX with a Polaris Edge skid would be nice. It actually is pretty easy to swap out the skid and you will be able to recoup a portion of the swap by selling the old one. There is a 2002 Edge skid on Ebay now. Item number is below

You can pipe and clutch your SX700 and you will at least keep up with your buddies SRX.
Pipe, clutch, reed notch or spacers, thin head gasket, jetted and maybe a few other mods and that SX700 will fly.

thanks fo r the info, i guess i should of stated the ridding conditions, i do alot of back country i have 91 acres and love powder, i also do alot of trail ridding and there pretty rough, Only run lakes when the trail crasses them.

I also will need a sled that i can 2 up, the rev has the 1+1, i currently have a backrest i mount on my sx.

I wish i coul dpipe my sx but the cops are very strick and you will get a fine for exsesive noise. and if i keep the sx i cant justify putting 1500$ in to it when i could sell it add 1500 to what i get and buy a srx01-02 which will be faster and more reliable. I thought about the r1 but im not that crazzy with the styling, i reaaly like the viper.

how close will the viper be to a 01 srx, bone stock.

it would be fun to have an srx then it woul dbe back and forth between us, but then we woul dhave the same sled, i love the feel just not good on the jumps.

I think im gona hav eto ride a viper to see what it feels like before i make my decision.

I raced a stock 2001 SRX Studded with my stock 2003 un-studded Viper accross the lake 2 years ago and he only beat me by half a sled. Probably because he got the hole shot being studded. Go with an 02 or 03 Viper.

srx is faster than a viper stock, no offense, but a stock for stock race between a viper and srx across a lake (not pond) would be farther than a sled length.

go with the SRX or buy a Viper and pipe it. Hands down that is the best option as far as performance, and the srx and piped viper are pretty damn close as far as potential. A piped viper will give you a lil more travel, but coming off a 700sx, you would be a little disapointed to find a stock Viper is not any faster than your sx with head gasket mod. The SRX will probably give you a little better fuel economy vs. a Piped Viper.

Yah must have been something wrong with that srx. I am possitive that a stock srx vs a stock viper the viper will be left behind in the dust. 120 hp to 140 hp :|

srx if you wanna be the guy at the front of the pack and long travel the rear.

if you dont mind being in the middle of the pack in the sled race get a viper although some of them with clutching make it a handful for anything other than a srx with the stock pipe on a viper. my brother has a 02 viper clutched and his buddy has a 03 rev800 clutched with the can. viper runs 101mph on gps and rev 98mph on same gps. the rev is getting head and porting work this year so we will see..................

If you go with a yamaha, it's really just ur preference, if your gona lake run, go with the srx, gona do more rough stuff, get the viper and revalves the shocks.

The rev, is probably the best riding sled by far, gas millage is good, just look out for the rings! :yrules:

name is robert ruff. we usually take it out when there is ice on white water lake and do the runs although we prefer snow as well to keep the slides cool. i wanna do the warrior but need to break it is 1st.
