Mostly stock 2002 Viper- I see the stock gearing is 22/38 = 1.73 ratio, I have a 21 tooth top gear from my 2000 SRX spare parts bin-If I change to a 21/38 = 1.81 ratio, Will I lose a bunch of top end-or is it only a few mph on the big end??? Looking at getting better holeshots, midrange performance, drag races up to 90MPH. Have some new iron to race this year-new dragon 700,F7's...etc -OR-would this be a waste of my time ???? Has anyone tried this gearing combo in a stock viper? I understand that I will need to add some mass(rivets) to the weights to keep the RPM down, I even have some other weights I might try because it was over-revving a little last year,BUT ???
Just wondering before I drain the chain case oil.
Thanks-Matt ;)!

yes that will definately help you on the bottom end, as long as you have good traction. Vipers also seem to like to be spun on the higher end of the rpm specification, 8400 out of the hole and around 8600 on top end.
