I planned on replacing the rings in my sled before the snow flies...was thinking since i'm tearing the top half down, is there any sence in removing 1-2 layers of head gasket. This is on an 02 viper with triple pipes...has anyone done this/ any gains??thanks

i dont know if i would do it with pipes but a little seat of the pants difference with a stock viper.

i definately wouldn't do that with a piped viper, they are risky enough with a stock engine and pipes with the viper cdi.

I've been running 1 layer with SLP's for 3 years now. However this is at 3000' and up in elevation. The few times it's been at lower elevations, it has been short 500' drag racing.
For low elevation normal riding, I would run a mix of race fuel/premium just to make sure you dont have detonation problems.
Pulling 2 layers reduces combustion chamber volume by 1.42 cc. So you can figure that the chamber volume for the mag and center cylinders is going to be in the 19-20 cc range. Depending on where your motor is at in the factory tolerence specs.
