I'm wondering if I should I replace the secondary on my srx. I have 12,000 miles on it and I'm wondering if the face of the sheaves have worn over time. I have replaced the buttons a few times and the spring and helix. I just bought a used primary to replace the one I have now. Wouldn't having the sheaves on the primary and secondary worn have the same effect as running a worn out belt?

are the faces grooved? did you take it apart and look for cracks? i'd take it apart clean it up really good, check for grooves on the faces and check for spider cracks. if not, then no it should be just fine. if you can find one for cheap, it might not be bad to replace and it'd set your mind at ease.

If the sheaves are in good condition and not damaged. Rough them up good with some sand paper, clean them up good with HOT soapy water, and run that bad boy! There are some secondaries on this site with A LOT more miles than that. Also, the belt will wear 1000 times faster than the secondary sheaves, rubber doesn't wear on a aluminum too quickly. ;)!
