imo pto looks a bit rich. ctr and mag look perfect.def no lean burn downs with current jetting.wash on piston next to intake ports should be about the size of the eraser on the top of a pencil.

Hey guys...sorry to jump on this thread...curious as to what to look for
when discussing wash...and what is wash? Is it the amount of carbon build up?...or other? The top looks like less carbon build up then the others which I thought would be leaner...What am I looking for???

the small clean portion on the top of the piston is called "wash" this is where the fuel enters the compustion chamber . as the fuel enters it washes this tiny spot on the piston. this is a good way to determine how your jetting is.lean or rich. like i said earlier piston wash should be about the size of you finger nail on you pinky or the size of the eraser on a pencil. any more than that and you are too rich. if the top of your piston was all black with carbon and no piston wash you would be to lean. hope this helps.

Thank you...I just learned something today...I never new you could inspect the
pistons for this..I always thought it was determined through the plug and the carbon
on the pistons was just random...
cheers

Of coarse it is alot easier to inspect the wash by pulling the plugs and looking into the cylinders with a flex light. Rather then pulling the heads. But that is a good example of what the pistons should look like.

He did it so us viewers could see better...

your right, its not the easy way to do it, but if you have the the top end off for some reason ,you can get a good idea on how much leaner you can run. this will = better fuel economy and a crisper running engine.you will not really add hp. but it sure will feal like it.

Does anyone see anything funny on the exhaust side? I did pull the head just for a teaching lesson. NOT Putting mega power heads on. Maxdlx
