fusion, unless your talking top speed. then the viper might have a couple mph advantage.

I have a friend that bought a new 900 rmk when they came out. After a few hundred miles and three blow ups they finally took it back. Only a few hundred miles, I think the computer was bad because they pretty much replaced all engine components. He was only able to ride a hundred miles at best. Within the first 30 miles he had a broken spindle and before 100 motor meltdown. Not impressive. Someone else I know has the exact same sled with around 650 miles and no problems, go figure.

yeah, the 900's were junk, but every manufacturer makes a crap sled once in a while. some more than others. I have a friend that just bought a new 2006 fusion 600 HO and says that the viper is no match for the 600 HO.

you should have no problems running with him with your mods. should be able to take him from start to finish.
We took an early release 600 HO for a test ride last winter. We had two runs against my bone stock Viper (136" track)and it was a toss up. I lost by less than a sled length first run and beat it by a couple lenghts the second run. We didn't do any top speed runs.

Your talken about 07 technology vs. a 02, still the viper being a 700 should win (you would hope). If the viper can hook up (ripsaw hehe), i hope it will be viper start to finish with it slowly pulling away on the lake .

My friend has bought a new left over 2006 fusion 600Ho. I know the 600 made somewere around 117 to 122 hp.
I use to beat my friends 2001 xc 600 (same motor as the fusion) so i figure with the extra weight of the fusion vs the 2001 edge platform i should take him.

Actually the 600 engine in the xc is not the same as the fusion 600 h.o., two very different engines. The 600 h.o. is about 120 horse (or 125 with the 2007 cleanfire version), while the xc 600 was more like 115 horse. Those 600 h.o.'s are some REAL screamers.

seen one at the grass drags...realtime-traction and the 600 ho was right there with the f6's and some (slower-stock) f7's

Funny, but not true. I still avg. AT LEAST 120 per tank with the pipes. Which is consistant or better then most I ride with. Depending on the situation I have seen as much as 135 out of a tank, but I was taking it easier those days, which is to say I stayed out of the powder, lots of spinning there, obviously.
Stock Viper has long legs, but can have trouble out of the hole with the stock track and little transfer. Probably be a good race.

If I was jumping brands I would be on the 600 fusion. I rode one last year in quebec and its smooth and fun to ride. I like the 600 ho revs but would love a 600 ho fusion in 06 red....would I give up the srx for the 600 fusion.....nope! I get better gas milage and I have more faith in the yamaha.....when the viper gets the chance to stretch its legs out it should end up in front of the fusion.
