If this sounds familiar, it is. Ever since my harness rubbed through in a couple spots http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=23287 my diag light still only flashes 2 times, unless: I unplug the headlight relay, unplug one or both headlights, or start it with the high beam on. I checked previous posts and checked resistance of the stator pick-up (212 ohms) and mag output (.36 ohms, both). I have a 2002 sxr to compare to but there are several differences between the two machines. Should I continue troubleshooting or ignore it? At idle RPM's of 1700, voltage to low or high beams is about 12.7 volts, same as the SXR. Load relay seems to hold off for 1-2 seconds after startup on both sleds. I havent been able to ride it yet this season to verify performance but last year I think I remember a slight RPM drop on hardpack with the throttle WO.

2000. Anyone have a spare headlight relay, load relay, cdi, stator coil I could borrow for troubleshooting?

Had them apart last season for cleaning, they were OK then, maybe I did something wrong on re-assembly. It bugs me that the diagnostic light seems to blink normally when the head lites are disconnected. I had the harness all the way out of the thing 2 times last year and inspected EVERY wire by hand from end to end. Electronics and electrical is my line of work so I thought I could figure anything out but this one has me questioning my abilitiy! Almost seems like the load relay isnt closing in time to have power to the instuments when the CDI sends the first blink...
