Ok. I just bought a '91 Phazer II which had been long-tracke dby the previous owner and a 1.5 camoplast put on it for riding in Colorado.
I live in Chicago and predominatly ride in the U.P.-I wanted this sled as the group I ride with does a lot of off-trail backwoods riding in deep U.P. powder-
Question-the 1.5 paddle seems overkill-I am also worried that I do a lot of trail riding to get to these backwoods spots-will I just end up burning out the hyfax and suspension as I will not always be in deep powder-mountain-like conditions?
Any help would be appreciated.
I already know I need to rejet the sled.
Thanks.

I would leave it and watch were you ride and look for loose snow when on the trail, or stick to the one side of the trail were there is not much trafic.

Have 1 1/2" paddles on two SRX's, one with 136" track. No problems. Mostly trails. Good hook up and braking and seldom skids in the corners.

My dads Mountain Viper has seen almost nothing but trail (better for his back) and he went 3 seasons putting on an average of 1500 miles a season before he had to change his. Just hop off into the fluff every once in a while and you will have no problems.

If you are concerned about the hyfax, i would definitely get some ice scratchers, they made a huge difference on mine for when i have to run on hard pack for a while.

If you have a fully clipped track, don't worry about your fax, just don't haul a$$ on ice, you will be fine. If it's clipped every third window you could have problems, but probably not.
You will smoke anything out of the hole in the loose stuff !!!!!!!
