ok, i know this has been talked about alot but i just want to be clear. for those of you that have studded a viper with a ripsaw, did you re-gear? w/the 8tooth. just want to be clear b/c i will have my driveshaft out, so i figured no better time than now to change drivers and gears(if i have to) to put in 1.325s. thanks for the help guys.

Thats what you have to do... i havn't done it but thought about it. Figured i would try without studs for a year. You will need 8 tooth, and regear if you want, you are loosing top end by putting them in. Then i would make sure that you are running tunnell protecters and heat exchanger protectors or else :whine:

Change to the 8 tooth drivers, and run a 24/37 or 24/38 gear in the chaincase. The 24/37 is the closest gear ratio to what it was stock, and you will still have plenty of power. You running triple pipes, or the stock stuff? I ran Woody's gold digger 1.45" studs in mine last year with NO problems. Just make sure you have the tunnel protecters, and the front and rear heat exchanger protecters as well.

i ran 8 tooth with stock gearing and it worked great for trails. corner to corner is much better than stock and you lose very little on the top end.

pull off the secondary, take the little 11 tooth speedo pickup gear off the driveshaft and grind two teeth off opposite each other. the speedo will be very close to accurate then. a lot more accurate than stock at least.

Come on only a pansy would need to take the secondary off to remove the speedo gear! lol j/k bro!

Gearing

Stock viper gearing 22/38: 1.727

Gearing w/ 8 tooth drivers (1.13 correction)

22/38: 1.95
23/38: 1.86
24/38: 1.78

I have a 24 tooth gear if you want it. $25 shipped.
