Hi all, got a quick question for people with a portable garage (tent like structure that covers cars, bikes, anything really.) I was planning on buying one of these just because our family doesn't have a real garage and I don't like the idea of leaving my SXR out on the trailer with just a cover on it. Anyone have any input on these things? How durable? What brands to stray away from? Would snow collapse it if we got a good storm? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Well a guy next door has 3 in the back of his yard. they are made out of a plasticy canvase material with tubular metal ribs, they are also anchord into the ground. They work great for keeping things out of the snow. He has had them for 2 years now very durable.

Things are pretty expensive though, for a tiny one that can fit one sled costs around $200, and then add in $70 for shipping, oye!

yea not very cheap but cheaper then putting a garage up
we have to of the ones from costco made with 2x4. been out there for 4 years and only problem we have had is the big windstorm last fall grabbed the storage one for the wave runners and fliped it over. only thing that is important is if lots of snow is accumulating on the top of it is to brush it off otherwise it will collapse at some point like my uncles did a couple of winters ago.

If you buy one be sure to buy the one with the metal poles instead of the plastic poles. I have had mine for three winters so far without any issues. My brother in-law has one across the street with the plastic poles that colapsed twice on him. It can't take the weight of the snow like mine. Also try to get one that has a coloured tarp/cover. That is the only issue that I have with mine. It has the clear tarp which is good for seeing in, but in the heat of the summer it acts as a magnifying glass and fades anything under it. I like to leave about 2" of snow on top of it all winter b/c it acts like insulation. I run a kerosene heater inside. You would be suprised how warm it gets for working on the sleds. Just my 2 cents,

Also in the portable garage your snowmobile cover will last alot longer. Sunlight messes those covers up. I am going to put one up a portable garage next to my garage or build a overhang. I want to get a few of the neighbors opinions first. I was looking at the one at sams club.
