Hello All,
My first most post so here come the questions. Keep in mind this is a summer project for next season. Hopefully to have it finished by her birthday.
I purchased a 90 Ovation for my daughter as she has and will have outgrown her 120 cc sled. She does not know that I have the sled yet other than I keep asking her what colors she likes.
Therefore my first question is regarding painting the hood and sides. I believe they are fiberglass and probably have to be stripped/sanded clean of the factory gelcoat. Is that right? Its going to be summer project anyway so time is not an issue as she wont be using it this winter.
BTW colors she wants are Yamaha blue metallic hood with yellow sides like Ducati or Spongebob. I found that colorite.com sells both paints.
Second item is upgrades. I've searched the site here and found that I should go with SRX plastic skis and saddles. Any aftermarket recommendations
My other upgrade future proofing the sled is a new track. Since 121x15 tracks are easier to find and sometimes cheaper to buy, I am inclining to swap the 108 stock skid for a 121 skid. I've read on the net of someone who fitted a 98 Arctic Cat ZR skid somewhat easily. Are there any direct bolt on skids from other Yamaha sleds I can use?
I will post pictures soon.
Thanks in advance.

welcome to the site.
there are no real direct bolt in suspensions for that sled that i know of. you could just put on a set of rail extensions to get it out to 121".
as for the skis, just find a used set of take off sxr, srx, viper, and rx1. all will have to be adapted to the tss but that is fairly minor.
most of the instructions to do this are on this site if you do a search with key words such as tss and skid retrofit.
gl and have fun.

Thanks Maim. I've found much information on this site. Rail extensions are probably the way to go. I found Mountain Machines can make them. As for the skis, I've been watchin Ebay for a set though I found AlsSnowmobile.com has a special on aftermarket plastic skis with mounts and carbides for $250.
Here is the link on how to install an AC ZR skid in a Phazer--its where I got the idea from.
