Sorry for the long post. After my quick ride last night (lap of the yard) I started looking my new machine over and I have a few questions.
1. Mag side power valve housing is installed with the projections facing downwards, other two are upwards. Any reason for the one to be different? Dealer claims to have services them for me, should I be concerned?
2. Did a couple of wheelies on my lap of the yard. After parking it I noticed the primary was very hot, couldn't hold my hand on it. Secondary was cold. Is there something wrong, or did it just get hot from me stressing it?
3. Previous owner had some clutch work done to it, but I have no idea what really. Looks like there is a Bender Helix in the secondary, anyone know what angle(s) it might be? Is this info stamped on it somewhere?
4. General clutching: Primary has a Yellow spring with an orange stripe across it, couldn't see the weights or rivets. Secondary has a black spring in hole 6 w/ the bender helix. Any idea what this setup is, or if it is any good? Turk/MrViper? Keep ing mind that I'm new to this Yamaha clutching stuff. Riding is 75% aggressive trail, 25% lake race.
5. Get a tone of ski lift when I YamerDown the throttle, which is fun, but I'd like a good trail setup. Sitting in the garage the rods sit at very bottom. Should be middle, right? How do I get it there? Skis look to be wound 3/4 way to the top, nice and soft when they landed, seem OK for now.
Thanks guys, hope you can provide some insight. Sorry for carrying on.

Anyone? At least about the power valve question?
I'd like to get it corrected if it is wrong before I causes any damage. Also kind of want to know if the dealer screwed up.
Thanks

what do you mean the housing is installed upside down??? the valve itself is upside down? either way all 3 should be the same.

yes, the housing is installed upside down, the little raised part on the 2 bolt housing is to face the top, on the opposite side there is a weep hole to let excess oil build up from the valves to leak out, make the housing the same as the other 2 on it.
if you look at the inside of the helix there will be numbers and letters engraved in it, I might know what it is.

Those types of things always make me skeptical of the whole sled. Makes one wonder what else has been taken out and put in backwards. Those little bumps should be up on all three.
You likely are slipping the belt a little, might be time to replace bushings or springs, or simply make an adjustment. I'll let others comment on the setup specifics.
Control rods should be in the middle with normal riding weight on the sled. Weight transfer is not a strong point of the Pro-Action skid. You may have shortened rods in there, or it is just hooking really well and standing up.
Take some pictures and post, as it will save a lot of guessing on our part.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. MrViper, I will see if I can find those numbers and get back to you. Below is a picture showing what I meant with the power vales. Arrows 1&2 show the protrusions I was talking about, arrow 4 shows they are missing on the MAG side.
Arrow 3 highlites another question, although it's hard to see. Should the flat portion at the end of the cable sit flat against the pv housing? Is this a sign that the cable is out of adjustment?
Thanks

MrViper, only number I can find on that bender helix without removing it is 2002B. If that's not it let me know and I'll have to take it off entirely and get back to you.
As for the power valve question, I took them out this weekend to inspect them. Dealer is full of you know what, they never serviced them, no visible damage though. Bill Of Sale says right on it that a tune up (Valves, Carbs, Plugs, Clutches) and new sliders were included in the deal. As for the slides, they handed me the new ones and said the existing ones would likely get me through the year, so they didn't change them, which is probably an accurate statement. Chain case oil also hasn't been changed in a while. Starting to question the dealer now, guess I'll give him a call today.
