I have a simple question about the air jet. I have an '04 Viper, owned it since new, & just took the carbs off for the fist time. The air jets were all the way closed. My question is, if I turn them out 1 turn as per the specs, what's to keep it in that position? It seems like it will just rattle loose or tight.
What am I missing?
Thanks

the air jets are in the rear bell of the carbs, they are to be tight, they are not adjustable unless you change out the jet for another size. I beleive your thinking about the fuel screws, these are located on the bottom side front of the carbs, they are to be turned in till they LIGHTLY seat then turned counterclockwise till you are about 1.25-1.5 turns out.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am referring to this:

So that should be turned in till it's lightly seated, & then back out 1 1/4 or 1 1/2?
Those were turned all the way in on mine. I tried to turn them in to mark how many turns, but they were already seated. So, I took them out, made sure they were clean, & I will reinstall them per what you said.
I just hope they stay there this time....
Thanks again.

Chad,
The part marked as an air jet in the picture is only adjustable by replacing the jet with another size. This should not be backed off from a seated position like an adjustment needle and will probably come loose and go through your engine if not tightened properly.

OK, so this is what is reffered to as the fuel screw:

That's the one that I need to tighten until seated, & then back out. The pic from my previous pic is just a regular jet that needs to be fully tightened.
That makes sense, that's why I was asking what's to keep it from falling out...
Anyways, MrViper & vx700xtc, thanks for the help.
