i have a 2001 SXR 500 and i had it out for a ride tonight and the lights are very dim even in the gauges and my tach dont work and my hand warmers dont either
also, she is really boggy on bottom end then cuts in and pulls good
what can i do to get a arm pull start? or raise the skis?
thanks

check the wires that go up to the gages and make sure they aren't melted from the pipe. also check the wires that go under the sled. if all theos are fine maybe the voltage regulators that on the back side plastic above the foot rest under ur pull cord. to pull the skis up get some adjustable transfer rods. or put a smaller shim on the top of ur transfer rods. also tighten the tension on teh center shock and put ur rear shock adjustment on soft. thats will transfer more weight to the rear and give u more traction and may bring up ur skis. but then again the 500 isnt the strongest motor so it maybe hard. also gear down a tooth on the top will give u more torque

i would advise against dropping the gearing, for a better holeshot, adjust the secondary for the belt to sit higher in the sheaves at resting position, this will give you a lower gear off the line, you could also tighten the spring 10deg to keep it in lower gear longer. Make sure the springs and weights are in good shape and replace the springs if they have more than 4000 miles on them.
Just so you know, if you did drop one tooth on the sprockets, the same chain (68link) will still fit

Test all of your electrical components. There are specs for each one. I personally don't like replacing components that are perfectly fine. Testing narrows it down to the failed ocmponent so that you don't have to spend money needlessly.
