I've been thinking a pro-action Phazer for a wife/backup sled.
But with my luck with snowmobile engines, I don't want to get something with no parts availibility.
Can I use older Phazer engines or engine parts in the newer sled?
I imagine there will be minor changes with carbs, porting, and maybe electronics; but is it basically the same?
are those engine Nicasil or Sleaved?
any interchangability with the liquid twins apart from the bodies and suspension? (intake, electronics, etc...)
were those long travel or short travel suspensions.

as far as i know the engines are identical from the older ones. Also, the suspensions in the newer phazers are the long travel proactions

- Engines have several differences from older versions including the cases. The mountain lite and the Venture 500 share the same engine for those years.
- Engines Can be swapped with older versions, but you should swap the electronics and pipe too. I wouldn't unless I had to.
- The bulkhead, frame, tunnel is the same as some of the other models that came with the 500 twin, 600 triple or even 700 triple, but many other parts are different. It would be a major change to convert, with the front exchanger being one of the hardest parts. I looked into doing this at one point.
- Long travel suspensions.

so the pogos and the proaction have different cases?
looking like not such a great deal then.

The newer Phazer still has a great engine, and parts are available. It is a little harder to find used engine parts, but they can be found. Also, the sled prices are going to be down soon to where you can just buy the whole sled for parts.

the one I was bidding on went for close to 1800. too much for me.
I was hoping for a cheap sled with readily availiable parts. I don't think there is a sled out there with a truely dependable engine, so I want a reasonably dependable engine that has good parts availibility.
I'm at the point of buying a SRX for an engine as it is. If I start stacking chassis 3 deep, the niebors might complain.
