i was told they came off a 1973 sr 433 race sled, anyone confirm this? the numbers on the carbs are 844El, keihin of japan

Yes..... I think they are 73 SR or 74 GPX

I have one, marked 857El, and it is sr433, 50mm bore, prob a very similar carb, venturi size may be a little different

844 is the model designation for the 1973 gp433b thats what they are from !

Pretty sure GP433 ran with an airbox though, those are factory Yamaha velocity stacks, so those carbs were probably on a different application.

they are Heihin carbs with the airbox removed. same carbs as on my '75 GPX (or similar). each carb has it's own fuel pump on it. those carbs have velocity stacks on them versus the stock airbox.

there not gpx carbs...they don't have acelerator pumps on them.gpx's do.and i think the 74 gp does too.73 gp carbs
