I took my mm700 apart to put rings in (8000 km) when I got it apart I discovered that the middle cylinder had some sort of corrosion undr the nicasil that was causing it to bulge. I got a new cylinder but now I think that since I have it apart I want to port it myself. I am very mechanicaly inclined ( I was just in Las Vegas competing in the AC Delco Technician of the Millennium Competition) I have talked to a very respected local yamaha mechanic, and he showed me some techniques that he has used. I have seen several pictures of porting jobs, but I respect the knowledge of this forum and would appreciate any advice I can get. I ride between 5000 and 8000 feet normally and I dont wat to go too radical. but I would like to get a couple hp gain. I already have pipes, reed spacers, roller secondary, camoplast track, But a buddy just got a 2004 Summit Rev 800 and I cant let Him kick my A**

here are a few ideas.

turks, specs: http://www.totallyamaha.com/snowmobiles/aaTECH/turks_porting_specs.htm

and there was a fellow on here named mad max (bob) from alberta that is a wiz with those style motors.

what ever you decide, do your homework and decide what is right for your application. motor modding isnt to be taken lightly as i can get expensive fast. before and after mods. good luck, hope you find what you are looking for. ski

Race logic has some real nice magnetic templates that work real well. I have them and did it to my MM. Awesome gain with what you have. Had to go up 5 jet #s to get rich enough. Good luck. It really worked nice. I ride 10k and higher.
