Anyone running with a ram air kit offered by yamaha? Is snow ingestion a problem? Is the mess on front adequate? Does snow get forced in around the duct in deep snow? I was thinking of mounting a set on and run with a pre-filter on the intake box.

I run a pre filter on the ram air, and one on the air box. No problems with snow. Maxdlx

Curious...I picked up a ram air..and filter over the summer...gunna install it soon...
did you notice any performance gains over stock?...I'm thinking at least 1hp...maybe 2hp in top speed, curious if anyone can confirm...every HP counts in my book...

I think they are talking about the kit for the mountain Vipers, to make the Ram Air like the short track sleds. I also run prefilters on ram air inlet and air box. I drilled holes in the runners to let air straight to the top of the air box.

fix powersports I beleieve make's a ram air kit for the viper's.Is that the one your talking about?

Viper prefilters

Ok, I just finished the install. Not enough snow locally to test. A screw through the windshield bezel is needed to pull the leading edge of the duct over to prevent any snow from getting by. This ram duct kit came from the dealer as genuine Yammie parts. I don't have the P/N sorry. You have to install some velco on the duct then attach the pre-filter material. The reason I put them on was to give the air box some cool fresh air not the hot air within the cowling. At least both my MMax's took fresh air in through a pre-filter forward of the handle bars. I thought this kit is going to be even more important when I put on a set of tripple pipes.

I purchased a modded Forced Air scoops from a fella on here...from the looks of it, he just took a jig saw from the exsisting Scoops and made the hole bigger at the end and added some tape to direct more air flow...and then added the Pre-filter material on the front...
I don't know if they work...but I saw a posting on ebay awhile back and that had me thinking...personally I though Yamama already had the hole as wide open as possible but it looks like it could go a lil more...
I could be a sucker for thinking this might work..but I can't see it hurting anything...

anyone have any pics of these cold air kits actually installed? like the fix powersports one? always wondered what they looked like...........
