I have a viper with a 98 srx and a 1000 Price Performance motor top end. I have Jaws pipes and 35mm bored stock carbs. I have trouble with the egt's reading the same, even though they are all jetted exact. I mean, the egt's are all over, one will be 400 hotter then the next. I am wondering if it could be the pipes, or are the carbs messed up? Or does the jetting vary that much?

Are they 400 degs. difference under full load wide open. Wear do you have thermocouplers located. What does piston wash and plugs look like?

Are you saying that each pipe temp differs by 400 degrees or all of them vary by 400 degree temps every now and then?

Differential of 400 from high to low. I doubt it is the sensor, as you can really feel the difference from an even flow.

Is it always the same cylinders that are running hotter? Are you running an airbox or filters? Are the temps always 400 off, in midrange, and top end? Which cylinders are running hot?

Also, what is the distance that your egt's are from your piston on all 3 cylinders?

Just to check, I would remove the carbs and shine a light thru the inlet(backside, airbox) and see if you can see some light on the sides of the sleds , sometimes when people dont offset bore the carbs or do them incorrectly, they open up the idle orfice and or take too much off 1 side and lets air leak past the slide, thus making them all over the place as to calibration. I would also checkto see that all your probes are exactly the same distance from the piston skirt. just a idea.
