I may be able to help you, but no promises. I have a '79 with a service manual that I used like the Bible when putting that thing back together. All those lines and nozzles can bet extremely confusing with out the manual, so I know what you're going through. I'm in the process of a move right now, so finding my service manual for that model may prove difficult. However, the worst case senario would be for me to pop the hood on the ole' girl and call you while I'm looking at it. Let me know if you're interested in that game plan.

Sound good, what im really confused on is where the lines coming from the oil tank go.Thier are two lines that come from the oil tank. One line is a single line with a slim filter on it.The other line y's into two lines if you trace it back to the oil tank(which i think are the lines that you read on the side of the gas tank to tell you your levels).I know these lines must go to the oil pump but where?
The fuel pump i think i can figure out. There are three fittings on the pump 1) the pulse line which runs to the crankcase 2)input line which runs from the gas tank to the pump 3)the out put line which runs from the pump to the carb feed........right?

I restored the sled back during the summer of '01, so my memory is fading on the exact route they take. But as I mentioned, I'll be more than happy to search for the manual and/or run out to my storage where the sled is located to help you out. There are vent lines for both the oil and fuel tank, however I forget if those also double as the level hoses.
The soonest I can get to the sleds is Wednesday. If that's not quick enough, I can understand, so let me know if you still want me to head out there.
Thanks,
Jon

In the photograph I copied twice, it shows what you're looking for, however it's in really fine print. If you go to the link I pasted and follow your way to the parts manual for the '79 Exciter, you'll see what I'm referring to. Once on that diagram, you can zoom in to get greater detail.
Line #1 (with the filter) is the main oil feed line which goes to the oil pump.
Line #2 (with the "T" fitting) also goes from the oil pump but it seems as if that's a return line.
I realize this is still vague, but I'll give you the exact location of where those lines go on the oil pump when I can get to the sled this weekend.
Later,
Jon

That's clear. I'll be sure to visit the sled tomorrow and give you an answer. I'll also see if I can snap a few photos for you. Just hang tight one more long day.

The line with the Oil Filter goes into the top side of the oil pump. The oil line with the t-fitting goes into the side/bottom fitting on the oil pump. The top fitting on the carb remains open; the other one with the hose connects into the clutch side of the fuel pump.
Let me know if you need anything else.

Don't forget to bleed the oil lines via the pump. I believe there's a bleed screw located on the pump itself. Loosen it and allow the oil to seep until there's no more air.

I pre mixed the first tank 50:1 since the motor is a fresh rebuild,i bled the oil line via screw on the oil pump.I also marked the oil level in the tank to make sure its using oil.I have it running but it has a pretty bad bog in the midrange.Im gonna pull the carb off and soak it in carb cleaner overnight then blow it out,i hope that solves the problem.Thanks.
