what problems should i look for.
what should the compression be on th erx1 and viper.
Now stock for stock who is faster 1/4mile the rx1 right

i had them both, to get the power i liked i had to pipe the viper, after that no fuel economy at no peace of mind, rx-1. leave it stock, runs with a puiped viper, no worries, viper might handle bettr on trails, but imo rx-1 has better frfont suspension

Viper: 120hp, 2 stroke, 10-14mpg, Trailing arm front susp., Lighter weight than a 4 stroke.
RX1: 145hp, 4 stroke, 18-22mpg, A-arm front susp.
I went with a Viper mainly cause I like 2 strokes over 4's and trailing arm suspension for trail riding. Cause I believe trailing arm susp. corners flatter than A-arm, but A-arms are better for the bumps. I feel that the RX1 feel top heavy goin into corner at high speeds. But just my .02

thanks for the info guys, im going in about 10mins to look at a rx1 and a black viper.
the rx1 is abit out of my price range, but i would save the money in fuel in a year and maintanance.
which sled is better whole shot.
anybody know what the compression is supposed to be.
the viper is calling to me abit casue there's some jaws pipes in the classifieds section.

well if you field ride and dont take long rides than pipe the viper and you'll be satisfied with the power..I piped my viper and I was so pleased with the 150+ horsepower that putting gas in it didn't bother me...but thats my opinion..

This man makes a awsome point, cause I did the same thing bought my Viper spent 2 years on it stock. This year it getting SLPs for a 30 hp increase and cant wait to hear that 2 stroke triple pipe sound. Gas money I could care less about really, cause I only get to do this 3-4 months outta the year. And the rest of the year my butt spends its time on a 2 stroke dirt bike. Cause theres nothing that gives me the chills more than hearing that sound whinding up. I'll admit i do like the 4 stroke sound but again I'm a huge 2 stroke fan.
Plus Viper are goin for dirt cheap right now, thats the whole reason I kept mine and did mods instead of buying a new ditch banger. Plus there no more 2 strokes for Yamaha sleds.

Weird!
I don't remember black being an option until 04. when the viper S came out. I would say it is an 04 ER or someone got tired of the red or blue and updated it. I can't see that though. Oh well if you got an 04 with 02 pricing sweet for you :-)

I would seriously look into a Viper to,cause can't see to find me an SRX. Can a 700 power-valved and triple-piped Viper beat an SRX or not. Hole shot and or long haul. There are a lot of Vipers for sale in my area,02 and 03's. Which year was better for the Viper? And if you clutch it properly what speeds can you get out of them?

Well I have an 02 viper with slps, v-force reeds, 192 chisels and when I had it clutched and jetted for the grass drags (500ft) the 02 srx with some work was about 2 lengths behind me...but then again I ran my buddies 98 srx 700 that they had all set up and it was at my snow flap in 500ft..I haven't raced an srx on the snow yet (long haul)

All depend if you wanna cough up the extra cash for GAS on the Triple Pipe Viper and it also depends on whos is set up better. But Ill let ya know what happens cause me and TopGunnSRX I'm sure we'll test it out after mines all tuned in. Both running Expert X Susp., running Predator tracks but I'm 1.25in and hes 1in. so only time will tell.
SRX: 12-14mpg
Piped Viper: 8-10mpg

Yeah that's what I keep hearing. The Srx is an awsome sled and with good gas mileage at the same time.Guess I'll have to keep looking for an SRX.Engineers knew what they were doing when they manufactured the SRX to be a one of a kind sled.Back in the old days,my bud from school had the 78 SRX and nobody could touch him, nobody.I had a 81 SRX and it went like hell to,those days I hit 115mph on the speedo. But some guy raced me on the river with the slightly older SRX and beat me,not by much, but did and I was a little pissed off.

But then is comes to suspension though. I went Expert X cause the trails here in Michigan can get pretty bad, which really dont bother me all that much. Trails were bad trails last year and didnt stop me from riding and that was stock Viper suspension. Rode Topgunns SRX with a Expert and was I ahhhh vs. my stock skid. Kinda wish I sold my Viper and bought a SRX and threw all the same suspesnion parts on it. But then thats where looks come into play I like the SRX looks but love the Viper looks. And throwing up extra money for gas dont bother me one bit, as long as I can make to a gas station.LOL But thats why I carry a tow strap.

and
just joking
yea., ,.....look at the mfg. plate on the left side of your new sled, it will show the manuf. date.
you might have a newer shroud on an 02...still not sure what year they offered the black colour scheme....could have been an 03 spring order only....
NICE SLED...you will like it!!!!
