i have then intakes for a boost bottle and wanna put one on. i was wondering what could i make one out of other then aluminum? i was thinking maybe some pvc piping it would be alot cheaper i dont care what it looks like right now. i wanna try one out before i spend a ton to buy one or have one machined. what about copper piping. im just worried about corrosion from the gas. im not sure how gas would react to either the pvc or its glue. if it works good i was thinking of buying one i just wanna try it out for a while before that. or if some one has anything cheep enough out there let me know

I thought about the copper also being a plumber gas will not hurt it copper fuel lines are very common! The pvc might be a problem (the heat) but CPVC might work! The one on my SX 600 is just a black plastic! I would think 3/4 copper would be fine 3 "T"s 2 caps!terret725 said:i have then intakes for a boost bottle and wanna put one on. i was wondering what could i make one out of other then aluminum? i was thinking maybe some pvc piping it would be alot cheaper i dont care what it looks like right now. i wanna try one out before i spend a ton to buy one or have one machined. what about copper piping. im just worried about corrosion from the gas. im not sure how gas would react to either the pvc or its glue. if it works good i was thinking of buying one i just wanna try it out for a while before that. or if some one has anything cheep enough out there let me know

thanks doo i tryed but it only changed the heading on the post not the thred
Remember you will need volume in the body of the experimental boost bottle.
I am planing on having some bottles and nipples machined up and then fabbing them together. Just need materials right now. T

yea i was thinkin of trying a few difernt sizes and see if theres any one better then the other. i know it has to be atleast the volume of one clyinder.

I assume you are putting the boost bottle on a 3 cylinder. You could take 2 Yamaha 2 cylinder bottles and cut and weld them together. Either with a plastic welder or a soldering gun and the unused plastic that is cut off. It would look nice anyway. If you spend some time the weld would be hardly noticeable. Make sure to clean it well first.
But I think that a boost bottle is not very effective on a 3 cylinder, which is why Yamaha does not use them. The pulses are not timed right for it to work. It is the same for a triple with a single exhaust pipe. 3 pipes make a big gain over a single.
I know that there is at least 1 aftermarket company that offers them for triples, but I do not know how much power (if any) is gained. I would not buy one without seeing a dyno sheet on one.
What may be better is 3 individual boost bottles. Single cylinder engines benefit from a boost bottle.

well it says like 3-4 peek adn 8-10 mid for gain for the hauck bottle. i was thinkin of using the pvc so i could experiment with difernt style. i already have triple pipes, reed spacers and teh ehad gasket mod. was also thinkin of geting my cylinders ported.

You can use pvc to make a boost bottle, my uncle made one out of pvc for his xc 500 after he broke his aftermarket one and it has held up for many thousands of miles now. Also, Hauck's numbers for the actual gains of the bottle are a little (a lot) on the optimistic side of the real gains on the yammy triple.

if you send me the dimentions you want i could weld one up at work out of aluminum square tubing, I could do it for real cheap, pm me if your interested.
