- The tail light on the 01' SXR's and newer ones seems to have 4 electrical wires, and the older ones have 3 wires. The problem is that my tail light just got a connector with 3-pins and the wires from the engine has 4-pins. Anyone know what the 4 wires are for? I have used a gauge and I have found out where the break light, ground and tail light is. But i cant figure out what the last one is for. I have to make some sort of home made connector.
- There is a cable from the oil pump to the fuel pump which has a valve on it. The valve got a mark like the one on this picture:
Should this mark point towards the fuel pump? And what does it do?
- When Iam bleeding the oil pump, how can I be sure the engine get any oil when starting the engine?
- The 01' SXR 700 engine hasnt been started for about 4 - 5 months i guess, is there anything I should do before starting it? Add some oil in the fuel for example?
Simon.

I am not sure what the 4th wire is for. If you have an operators manual, there is a wiring diagram in it. You can trace the wire to its source.
The valve is most likely a check valve that only allows flow in one direction. The arrow would point in the direction of flow. Toward the fuel pump.
If the carburators are dry you may want to remove the spark plugs and prime with some mixed fuel. It may have to be done 2 or 3 times until the motor continues to run. If the carbs have fuel in them, there is also oil in that fuel. After the oil pump has been bled, remove the oil hose at the fuel pump. Start the engine and run at idle while holding the oil pump lever wide open until the air is gone from the line, then reinstall the hose. A small amount of fuel at less than full oil mix is not a problem at idle.
If there was no fuel stabilizer used or carbs were not dry when stored, they should be removed and cleaned. There should be nothing else necessary except the normal yearly checks and adjustments on the chart in the manual.
