thanks

EDIT: Probably going to stay away from pipes for now, want to ride it first it may be fast anough, and I dont want a tickit

Well the set-up for the stock motor will be completly diffrent than with the pipes. If your going to get pipes soon than i'd wait and clutch it then. If you dont plan on getting pipes too soon than a 53/43 with a green secondary would be fairly cheap and you'd be able to use it with your pipes when you get them.

I think you'll want the 8DN-20 weights in the primary. They have a good, flat profile. The shift pattern is pretty equal all the way through the RPM range and pull very good top end. These along with the 53/43 or 51/43 helix and the green secondary spring should start you off close to where you want it... Nobody can really say a whole lot until you get the pipes you decide to put on, and they RPM's they need to spin.

If you are going to stay stock and dont want to loose top end go for the following a 48/40 helix. Run 3 grams heel, 1st hole empty & 3-4 grams tip ( heelclikers )with the red primary spring & use a green yammie secondary spring at 60 degree twist.
Also go for a engine torque limiter kit and get a track that can hook up and you will be very happy and can ride with peace of mind unlike if you piped the machine.

just wondering.....how does clutching affect top end, ????
as long as you still shift out 100%, your top end won't be affected by simply changing springs, wts. or helix, right?
clutching will change how fast you get there, but your top speed should remain pretty much the same on a given course/day.
gear change would affect your top end

All i know most clutch kits are put together to get great take offs and strong mid range , but they also tend to kill the overev that some claim the stock viper has. So if you put a kit in and the machine's top rpms are 8400 vs the stock of 8900 you wont get use of the full potential of the powerband and top speed will be effected.
The viper makes most hp at around 8700 to 8800 and from their it falls off the hp charts.
Unlike the srx the viper needs to spin at 8700 to 8800 for full advantage of the powercurve and will in return give you top speed.
