I've got an 03 Viper with 110pto, 130center, and 132 on mag. The sled only has 2000 miles on it. I think I babied it too much when it was new. I also started it a lot in my garage before it had any miles on it. I pulled of the pipe and looked through the y-pipe and the center piston had some blow by. I'm thinking I should re-ring it. It usually takes around 3 pulls to start it when its cold while when it was new it was only 1 or 2 at the most. Last year out on Boom lake I couldn't break 100 running right at 8500rpm on it with a fresh belt broke in. I have a Bender 4x4 pipe and an MBRP race can with C&A Race skis, otherwise all stock. Even though those mods probably shave a few mph off up top I think it should do better than that. When it was all stock and only had 500 miles on it I hit 116 on a rail road bed. Do you think I should re-ring? Thanks

Yeah thats kinda what I was thinking. In a race with my buddy's stock 01 sxr700 it depends who gets the start and whoever did would keep pulling and win.

No, I didnt touch them since the dealer did at 700 miles. I didnt really gain any weight either. I'm starting to think I should sell it and get something else. lol

Mine hasn't been re-ringed until now with 5,700 miles on it and I ride with two sxr's 99/01 and they couldn't touch my viper even before I put my pipes and few other mods on. I weight 150 lbs though. I think you should get it clutched/studs if you haven't and clean your powervalves. You should be able to hit 116 on the dreammeter atleast.

those compression numbers are completely normal. Have you cleaned and adjusted your powervalves? One of them might not be opening all the way, robbing you of top end horsepower. Get in there and take a look, they probably are caked with carbon.

Yup, a Stuck P/V would do that. I had a Mtn Cat and i Knew right away when she wouldn't climb past 80Mph cuz the valves were stuck. check em out.

I cleaned them twice already using a scotch brite/carb cleaner and got them really clean. The only thing I've yet to do is adjust the cables, but maybe thats the problem, or the clutches are dirty. I have gone through the carbs and found nothing wrong with them.

Another factor would be the MBRP can. Sxrsist just did a Dyno with a Bender can on a 700 sx and lost 6 horsepower on top. I can only imagine it's the same story with the viper... just not sure about #'s. Did you try running again with the stock can? I bet it's not your complete problem but i definetly think it's part of the problem you are having.
As for re-ringing, if you're seeing blow-by and you haven't done the rings for a while, it can't hurt. They're cheap and it definetly doesn't hurt anything to do them before the snow flys.
