Rode the viper today and at WOT it kinda boggs out. I have noticed that it seems to smoke more than normal. Could it be burning so much oil that its choking it up at WOT? I just cleaned the valves and they were dirty. The guy i bought it from said they were cleaned 400 miles ago. Could all of this be caused bc of too much oil? Or do you think its a carb problem?

Thanks

You might have a plugged main jet. Gotta clean those carbs. Pull the carbs from the sled, remove the float bowls, and remove the slotted brass main jets and visually check them, spray them out good with carb cleaner, then blow compressed air through them, and visually check them again to make sure they are all cleaned out. There are also instructions to do all this in the tech pages and maybe the tech FAQ on the forum. Once you get the carbs clean and can rule that out, if its still acting up we can go from there, because it could also be clutching, etc. Any other questions just ask.

about 40 degrees. The sled smokes more than normal........ I will have to ride it some more. It could be from sitting too much.

do you have last years fuel in it???? you maybe burning some JUNK fuel....

40 degrees makes a sled run AWFULLY rich!!!!! especially if you have some left over garbage FUEL in it!!! if the mainjets were really in BAD SHAPE, you would get the bog, but the smoke wouldn't really be an issue at WOT!!!... yes it would smoke cause of the fuel and cause its too warm out,,, It seems like you have a couple of different things going on...

most likely a carb issue, as stated above, but you can check your oil cable setting for peace of mind. the spec for the oil cable gap is 21-23 mm. btw, your oil pump is Wide Open before your thumb is WOT.
