Im looking into a aftermarket head. Will this bring me any gains by running a higher compression dome.

Would this be a good mod for a single pipe viper?

If so who makes the best after mkt head?

If your staying stock, Id keep the stock head even running a gutted or Bender 4x4 pipe. With a/m heads your only looking at a 3-4hp gain for $400 dollars IMO not worth the money for that little of a gain. Guys running pipes or pipes and porting do this to increase COOLING cap. for there 150-175hp motor. A motor that was built to make 120hp your talking a huge temp. increase from adding pipes. Reason behind guys running SRX parts on a Viper.

well a 3 or 4 hp is anough for me, would also prob help on warm days, would it be benificial to bring all cylinders to the same compression.

thanks for the repley, yes its alot of cash, If i do it ill save it for last.

I've been curious on this to JaysV aswell...I'm with ya...yeah..I know its only 4hp like they say...but if ya start doin yer homework on stuff... Clutching... Reeds.. Spacers.. rotating weight..oversized wheels...Skis...lightercomponents etc...maybe a single 4x4...Its all gotta add up to a better machine right?...I'm just looking at all venues of improving performance without goin triple pipes thats all...
Curious on more input...

Ask any of the known Viper guys on here about Reeds and Spacers on a Viper, and see what they say bout them.

Spacers you dont gain any HP, you just change the power curve to lean towards the bottom end, then lose topend power.

Reeds you wont feel much on a stocker unless piped or piped and ported, I had a set of VFORCE3 reeds that I bought as a kit. Ask BETHEVIPER if there worth running or selling and he told me to sell them cause what I stated above. Any of the motors guys on here will tell ya, you cant get much better than Yamis reeds.

But its your money do with it what you will. Just trying to save ya some coin.

Yep... you can't really squeeze much out of a viper without going the route of pipes. Other internal engine work just won't show the way it would with pipes and especially reeds and spacers. The head may be one of few things that will get you anywhere without pipes. If you ever went with the exhaust then other things really start to shine and then they all add up. You may get a few more hp with porting... but it 's the same story as above.
