my question is, I took the needle out of my carbs and it has one metal clip with a plastic shim on top of it. the clip is in the 4th groove from the bottom.I dont understand what position this would be with only one shim on top of the clip in this position. any help would be apprieciated.

If you put one shim on bottom of the clip it will be in the 3.5 position.

ok , so if the clip is in the 4th position and the shim is on top of it, what position was that? cause i ran it all last year like that...but my sled has slp's so i'm not sure where to put it. slp reccomends 3.5 for below 0 degrees and 4 for above zero degrees...i thought 3.5 was leaner than 4..dont understand why they would want it leaner on a colder night...so my question is whats the position its on now with the clip in the 4th position and the shim on top of it?i'm holding the needles so that the pointed end faces down, also on slps rec. the 3.5 position has a shim on top and on bottom when the clip is in the #4 position....thanks alot!

alright so I checked all the needles and each one the metal clip is in the #4 position with one .4mm plastic shim on top, so this must be 3.5 correct?

I think
4th groove from bottom is #2, shim on top and bottom would be 1.5
you do have 2 shims for each needle?

well if you go here http://www.totallyamaha.com/snowmobiles/aaTECH/CarbNeedles/CarbNeedles.htm its on #4 with one shim on top, they are all like this...i managed to run it all last winter like this and this summer at the grass drags with no problems...it says if you use the shim on bottom you'll need one on top..it doesn't say if you have one on top you'll need one on bottom...i'm confused lol..prob just end up leaving it there..i believe with one shim on top it would be #3.5 position

yes sorry..just learning this stuff :P I think when I managed to pull the needle from the slide the bottom washer stayed on the slide...i ran into a couple problems though...I can't get a few of the allenhead bolts from the slides...i believe they are stripped..seems like it would be a pain to get them out now...any ideas?..SNAKEBIT.. said:So its in the fourth groove from the top! not from the bottom as stated earlier
