Hello, I am thinking of getting my 81 rebuilt. While the machine is running ok I think it's high time to do some preventative maintenance. Initially, I was just going to get the top end done. A friend suggested if I were to do that I may as well go all out and take it down to the crank.

I plan to keep stock bore. Any thoughts of any other improvements I may be able to take into consideration before doing anything? Either this year or next season I'd like to add an Aaen pipe. If I go through with it this season I'll be having the engine rebuilt, clutch krebuild and also a carb kit. Speaking of carbs, I've been reading that the Keihins are one of the harder ones to work with. One thing I do like at the moment is that this puppy is stingy on fuel. Thought of upgrading to dualies but I'm afraid I may never afford the gas for the thing. Some locals told me they would beep it single for that very reason. Any input on this? What if I were to keep it a single and swap out the Keihin in favor of round sides or something? Figure if I'm gona do this I may as well do everything the one time. Plan to leave the suspension and track for another season being I replaced the shock and springs last year.

At the moment this sled is completely stock and hate to say it, neglected. It used to belong to my father and he was never one to do much of anyting in way of maintenance. I hope to get things done so I can actually enjoy riding this old sled again. In past years it was a treat to use it but didn't have the oportunity very often. I figure money spent now ougt to give me a reliable sled for years to come. Thanks.
