Rather than editing my other post I thought I'd ask here. Woud I notice much of a difference in performance spending the extra money going Wisco piston & rings vs. Yamaha? Not exactly up on engines unfortunately. That being said, I'll be having either a friend or a shop do the work.
Sorry guys. I knew before posting that there wouldn't be any change as per HP. I always let the machine warm up for at least 10 minutes or so depending on temps at that time. I guess what I shuld have as is what difference would Wiscos make? Are they longer lasting? What about engine wear?
When I was younger and used to read sled mags etc. it looked like Wisco was the way to go for rebuilds. Being clueless when it comes to engine building would be like someone asking me about what makes certain computer components better than others. You know and understand if you are into those things. Unfortunately for me I know computers but not engines. Thanks!

Most snowmobile engines don't see a hp improvement by going to wisecos. Wisecos are forged pistons and the stockers are cast aluminum. You will get better cold performance with cast. With the forged pistons you need to warm your sled up fully before you take off or damage will result. I have three sleds here all with Wiseco pistons.

go with OEM
stay away from Wiseco if you plan on running it at all.
i have tried the wiseco thing to deth and i can not recomend them.

well , I can recommend wiseco's.....don believe the hype about wiseco pistons being sh*t, like 8vo fan said they are 2 differnt types of pistons.....I have had my srv running on the same set of wiseco pistons since 1998, and I also run them in my RZ350 with 0 problem, I also run oem....they are both good......you just have to use them right!
