I took apart my 98 vmax 700sx last night to try and find the source of an injection oil leak. After removing the carbs, and the motor mount under the carbs I noticed that one of the oil hoses had come loose off the Oil pump or whatever that thing is under the motor mount. I'm assuming it's some sort of regulator b/c it is also connected to the throttle?? The hose that came off goes under the motor (not sure where it attaches).

I'm trying to determine if this is the source of my leak, I'm thinking it is.

My question is what is this hose, and would it be possible for the motor to run with it disconnected, without causing damage? (After noticing the leak I did about 100 miles in N. NH last year with no problems.)

It's possible that this hose poped loose during the disassembly last night, but I don't think it did, I think it's been off.

I put the hose on and will be clamping it to keep it from coming off again. I will watch for more leakage, but am hoping I don't have to dissassmeble any more.
Thanks

the hoses on the bottom of the engine go to your crank bearings...i wouldn't run too long without that for obvious reasons.

oh no

Is it possible to check connections to the crankcase without pulling the motor? pretty difficult to see down there
