Hi guys!

My 1999 SRX700 has a 136" 2" track with noslip 8t running wheels, how much top speed should I get with this setup?.

I got around 130km/h on my GPS last year if I don`t remember wrong, does that seem right?.

I havent pulled the chaincase cover to check the gearing, but I will soon.

I want more track speed, think it will make it climb better?.

I don`t know what setup I have in the clutches, but I bet they are all stock.

Can I change the helix angle to get more track speed?. (I don`t know what I`m talking about, but I`ve heard that you can change where the spring enters some holes in the primary and that way change the backshift ?).

Or, should I keep it like it is ?.

Hmm

Personally i think you should be able to expect a bit more than 130 kph with that setup. What do you rev at wide open throttle. Are you powervalves and carbs clean? Are the clutches shifting all the way out, and have you cleaned them lately? It also would be helpful to know what you have in the clutches right now along with what it revs in order to make a good decision about where to go next. More track speed will definately make it climb better. Also, it is the secondary clutch that has the indexed holes to change the wrap on the secondary spring which changes the backshift (as well as the upshift for that matter) of the clutch system.

Hi guys !
Thanks alot for the replies, really appreciate it.
Today I pulled the chain & gears.
Upper gear: 23 teeths
Lower gear: 37 teeths
Chain: 68 links
I also found that the chain was way to loose, guess it`s been a while since the last owner checked it.

Loose chain!

What would be the best thing to do?. Add a few teeths to the upper or remove a few from lower?.
I don`t know what gear combos that will work with my chain.. or maybe I just should change the chain?.

Hmm :)
I don`t know about the clutch setup, but I bet it`s totally stock. Can take a look tomorrow though.. .

Wellwell thanks again.

Oh, last year I read somewhere here on the forum how many rews I should have at full throttle, I then tested it and it rewed just like it should, but for the moment I don`t remember what it should rew at:). But like I say I remember that it rewed correct.

I did blow a belt last year and it winded up around my secondary so I took it off to remove the pieces of the belt, I did pay attention to how everything was put together and I think I got the spring in the right holes, I must have because it run just like it should.

Wellwell

there is a calculator for this, I think it was on the Rich's site??
or Mountain performance? cant remember
maybe its in the tech section now?

Hi guys !
Thanks for the replies:).
Haven`t found the calculator yet though.

Just to clear things up alittle, I`m interested in making my sled climb higher in the hills and maybe get some more top speed on the lakes.
I`m wondering wether I`m attacking this from the wrong angle?.
Maybe I should focus on the clutches instead of the gearing?.
