Sc-10

The original SC10 is not as good as the Pro-Action skid, although it can transfer better (especially certain versions of it). The SC10-II is a great improvement over the SC10, and the SC10-III is better yet. Both the II and the III can be an improvement over the Pro-Action in some areas but not all.

do a search on the edge idea... There are a lot of people on this forum that have swapped out the pro-action for the edge. IMO, the Edge skid is better than the SC10.

if you arent particular, why not look for one of the newer yami skids, like a mono or a proactive? I would go with the edge over the sc-10. never ridden an edge, but have ridden an sc -10 1 and 2, and both are decent but not really a LOT better than the proaction if set up right

i really like the edge and sc10 III. which is better? hard to tell. they are both a big improvement over the proaction. i would pick up whatever you can get cheaper. i cant comment on installing the sc10, but it shouldnt be any different than installing an edge which is pretty straitforward and it only takes a couple hours. if you can measure accuratly, you can do it.

any drawbacks to the edge or scI0 III compared to the proaction?
better ride, less weight, more adjustability, better weight transfer, better stability in the rough. i cant think of anything the proaction is better at!

With the adjustable shocks cant you make it softer? These shocks aren't durable or rebuildable? So this will be stiff like the proaction skid? Figured it would be like the proaction with ohlins?

that was a skid that polaris sold as their version of a ski doo X package, or a standard viper. HARD! nice skid for what it was made for, but it will be stiff as hell :)

o, and you arent far from me, so hey, from one NH guy to another lol! if you can get a mono I have a template that i could copy for ya, but got nothing if you get anything else lol!

i have an 03 pro x 700 which is softer than the 02. mine is revalved softer along with a softer front shock spring. even with both clickers on the softest setting it is almost impossible to bottom. the one time i did bottom it i wound up riding on the bars and staring at the headlight for 100'. dont get me wrong though, it works well and rides better than the stock viper skid and it also works great in the bumps. the walkers are not durable in stock form, but a good shock guy can make them work well. call jerry butler 248-585-5282 and ask his opinion. he is one of the best shock guys for polaris skids and rides a pro x so he can offer better advice on that specific one. but from what i remember it wasnt even trailable from the factory it was so stiff!

I thought about the Bender mono upgrade but haven't heard allot about them. I see Bender is back up on the web. I like the idea of the Polaris skid but went on HC and did a search on the Walker Evans shocks and from what I read they are not very good. I want to put in a skid and not have problems, or a sore back. I think I may hold off and look into Bender. There is only a few other edge skids on Ebay and for the price they want I may just throw down a few extra bucks for something new? We will see what happens. I can always ride the proaction for another year. Thanks for the offer 03viperguy. Were you thinking Bender Mono? Is that why you have the template?

before getting stuck on a mono, how do you ride? different suspensions suit different riding styles. the mono is a great cruiser, but isnt a good ditchbanger.

I like to ride mostly trail, but with the conditions smooth goes to rough real quick from all the traffic. I would say aggressive at times due to conditions. I found the faster in the bumps the better the viper goes, especially after preloading the s#@t out of the front shock. But more to be desired. Like you said "better ride, less weight, more adjustability, better weight transfer, better stability in the rough. i cant think of anything the proaction is better at!"

I have a used mono from an apex GT with a shock from an attak. I got a nice template from the seller :) where do you ride? I do almost ALL of my riding up in pittsburg and the surrounding areas, and the mono up there (rode a friends GT last year up there) rides FANTASTIC! even in the rough, as rough as it gets there, it really soaked things up :)

Did you install the mono already? I ride local if snow permits. I do allot of riding in your area. Usually leave from the Rail Road Resturaunt and ride the Swift Trails. They groom awesome. Ride Winni when there is ice LOL. Last year many trips to Pittsburg. I found two templates online for the polaris edge and one for the pro x. I guess mounting is different pending on what skid you use from Polaris? Where did you find a Mono?
