Gonna do the rings on the old 95 500 next weekend. What do I need to do to the cylinder walls? I've read that nikisal should not be honed. If they just need a light cross-hatch sanding, what grit do I use?

Thanks, FishX

YES YOU HAVE TO HONE THE WALLS JUST LIKE ALL ENG. REBUILD, GO THE THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE AN BUY A HONER TO FIT THE CYLINDER JUST TO BREAK THE GLAZE ON THE WALL, TELL THE PARTS MAN WHAT YOU WANT HE WILL HAVE IT OR CAN GET IT FOR YOU IT WILL FIT ON A DRILL, IT LOOKS LIKE A BOTTLE BRUSH WITH LITTLE BEADS ON THE END OF EACH OF THE POINTS, SEE IF YOU CAN RENT ONE OR BORROW ONE FROM SOME ONE THERE ARE DIFFERENT SIZES, MATCH TO CYLINDER DIA. NOT AN EXPERT BUT I HAVE REBUILT A FEW ENG. YOU WILL NOT NEED THE ONE WITH THE STONES ON IT JUST GET THE ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE A BOTTLE BRUSH SID
