I am working on a 98 SRX700 with 4300 miles on it.
It ran perfect ever since I had it, I just opened it up to make sure everything looked ok.
The Bore size should be 69.00MM.. It's measures 69.01MM...
According to my manual the pistons should be 68.932 to 68.944MM...
That seem a bit tight to me thats only .0022" clearance. .0011" /side...
The pistons measure 68.78/68.9MM. So there is about .005" Clearance...
According to the specs they are under size. Other than the carbon on top they look brand new...
The wear limit on the cylinder is 69.1MM, so if the piston was on the low limit
and the jug was on the high limit there would be .0066" clearance...
How much clearance is safe?
I ran my 98 sx700 over 11000 miles and never put a wrench on the engine.
NEVER!!!!!
