SRX piston hole mod

i did ask that question but know one anwser me .... i'm sure the hole is not at the right place

Boost hole

Its in the right place. Yamaha did not make a mistake. Charge from the crankcase travels through the boost hole and through the transfer port seen in the last pic. Some believe opening up the piston boost hole to a size similar to the cylinder transfer port will increase fuel charge.

Coated pistons

No not four corner seizure. The other side of those pistons is perfect. I'm having trouble with lubrication between the cylinder webbing. This pic is J. Simons solution to oil retension in this area of the cylinder. I'm not sure if it works or not. This year I'm trying the dark gray coated pistons in the above post. I asked Pat H. if I should drill the oil retension holes and he said no the coating should solve this problem. I was thinking of opening the boost port hole but wasnt sure if its worth the time vs HP gain if any and I have access to a bridgeport milling machine.

The teflon coating will solve the problem PROVIDING you have the right clearance AND the right oil!!! I like the drilled holes!!! Maybe a REAL GOOD IDEA!!!!!! I just wonder how they hold up??????? (with the drilled holes in them?)

Energy Release

Nosboy their is no one left on this board running Yamalube. Havnt I learned anything from all your ranting and raving. I run Klotz with 2 ozs of Energy Release per gallon. Cable freeplay set at 24mm

mac thanks for the pics.

Mac: Who drilled the holes in the pistons? Did you notice an improvement?

I know you guys hate Yamalube, BUT I have put over 30000 miles on my last 4 yamahas all on yamaha lube and have never replaced an engine part.
NO SHIT!!!!!
Yes the were all bone stock trail sleds. I leave the trail sleds stock for the 2000 mile plus Quebec trips. When you are 1000 miles away from the truck ya dont wana break.

P.S. I broke the skid frame on every one of my yamahas since 1995
Cheap asian steel....

Nothing wrong with yammie lube thousands of sleds run it every year
with out blowing up,, i did for 15 years no problems, just this year tho
i'm trying Amsoil.

but on the other hand a full synthetic is a lot better for your mill
for pump ability and wear..

now enough on this oil stuff or we'll have nosboy after us!!!

Its not as SIMPLE as you run YAMALUBE and your motor blows up... Its like the alcoholic ONLY drinking BEER everyday and NEVER drinking WATER... He'll tell you that BEER has water in it,,,so it;s O.K.... I understand the thinking behind the YAMALUBE works ,,but,,, why do people spend THOUSANDS of dollars trying to make a sled FASTER and handle BETTER?????? They could say "well, the sled is fast enough" or YAMALUBE works fine,, when in all reality it DOESN'T Why don't people just take out their center spark plug and ride it with only 2 spark plugs in it???? IT WORKS THAT WAY!!!!! (it has really bad acceleration and makes a LOT of noise),,,,but,,,nevertheless,,,it works... I could PROVE to you that your compression will stay HIGHER LONGER ( a LOT LONGER) by using synthetic oil and your engine will last longer,,, but,,, I suppose you guys LIKE SPENDING thousands of dollars on engine rebuilds too!!!! Just trying to help!!!! Gary Oles nosboy

"yamalubes fine"... No,,, YAMALUBE is OVERPRICED JUNK... I am telling you that you could go to WAL MART and buy walmart brand or TEXACO brand and get the EXACT SAME OIL from the EXACT SAME oil tank for a LOT LESS MONEY!!!!! here we go again.. GO PRICE CITGO 2 stroke oil and go price yamalube..... IT IS THE EXACT SAME OIL!!!!!! will citgo oil work????? EXACTLY the same as YAMALUBE.. EXACTLY the same... not close,,, EXACTLY!!!!! I can't for the LIFE OF ME,, figure out WHY PEOPLE BUY YAMALUBE?????? is it the BLACK plastic bottles???? TEXACO has black plastic bottles too!!!! If there was a display of YAMALUBE and another display of Gary Oles oil and I put it into MY OWN bottles from a 55 gallon drum of YAMALUBE,, would you BUY IT FROM ME for 5.00 a gallon less?????? PROBABLY NOT!!!!!! Gary Oles nosboy

Oil

Nosboy you crack me up..........LOL
Dont be so angry all the time.
When I say yamaha lube I was actually buying Citgo 2 stroke from wallmart for $5.00 a gallon.
When you ride 5000 to 10000 miles a year $40.00 a gallon for oil gets expansive. (klotz/amsoil=$700/year) (Citgo=$80.00/year)
It's was cheaper for me to buy a new sled every 2 years than it was to put good oil in it. You can get 10000 to 15000 out of a 2 stroke yamaha on shit oil.
Just dont buy 1 of my used sleds you might not like yhat you find inside.

Now that I have a 4 stroke trail sled I only buy oil once a year and yes I run synthetic in the crankcase. Im gonna try to put 50000 miles on my attak before I get a new one.

Whats your favorite oil??? I"ll run it in my lake sled (srx700)

I live in Chicago and you CANNOT ride sleds ANYWHERE around here!!!! I usually get 3 or 4 weekends of sledding a SEASON!!! So you see,, if I use a GALLON of oil per YEAR on each sled It really doesn't matter if its 5.00 or 30.00 a gallon to me!!! I AM only buying 2 gallons a year 9for both sleds!!!).. I SEE YOUR POINT!!!!! Gary Oles nosboy

I use KLOTZ!!! (around 25.00 a gallon if you buy it by the case!!!) Gary Oles nosboy

I went to school for "rocket science" but found out, AFTER I GRADUATED,, that the ONLY JOBS were in FLORIDA or SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!!!! and you'd have to be SOMEBODY'S GRANDSON to get into NASA or JPL!!!! Gary Oles nosboy
