hey guys my 98 srx is my trail sled, but i would like it to have better suspension. what can be done with out spending a whol lot of money. i am not a rich guy, so maybe a viper suspension. what else?

but i need something that i can launch, becuase my sled isn't stock and i love to drag race on the lake up at different cottages i go to.

If you make it ride better the performance; especially top end will suffer. SRX is an awesome top end lake runner....can,t have it all. Viper shocks in the rear skid & widening & raising the front end will help but your gonna give up some lake running mph. Buy an Apex?????

i was going to buy the apex gt, i saved for it for two years and i was buying a slightly used on here...BUT....i bought a 2002 xcr 800 with mods from iantomasi racing (my cousins)

Buy a set of rear ohlins that are reb and comp adjustable. Then you can make it ride like the best. Maxdlx

shocks

I had maxximum performance long travel my rear shocks last year. It was a great investment. I wish I had done it sooner on my 02 srx

What did that run and what else has to be done? Do you use the existing shocks on the skid? My skid is out right now and I'm curious before I put it back in.
Thanks

shocks

I think it was $350 plus shipping. You also need the correct transfer rods. Worth every penny

shocks

If I remember right I needed the maxximum performance transfer rods for the system to work correctly. Atleast thats what they told me. I got lucky and already had a pair from them.

call bruce @ pioneer performance: 716 496 8800. he's one of the best in the business for yamaha suspension upgrades.

tell me more
i have four different complete sets of either viper take off, used update, xtc takeoff, venture take offs and also sell brackets to bolt the viper style front shocks to a srx chasis the correct way.

you will need straps for a 98 srx to long travel it, you will not need transfer rods though.

I think thts what I put on there too. I'll have to look thru my recipts and see. Beteen this and the RX-1 I don't know what the hell i have bought over the years. :o|
When you say "worth every penny"...you mean in overall ride? What about handling? Do you lose anything? What do you weigh if I may ask?

everything

The ride was SOOOO much better. It did not mess with the handling because it only raised the back end up about an inch or so. I am 250lbs. When I sent the shocks off I wrote alittle letter telling them my weight, were I ride, how I ride. I would call and talk to whoever you have doing it so you can give them the info they want

Thanks again...

I've delt with them before. i'll call over there and chat with them.
Thanks. Always helps to get opinions from someone who has used the product! :rocks:
