I have a friend that has a Fast M10 that came out of a 88-89 Polaris Indy. I can get this suspension at no charge. Would have to be gone over. He says it has gas shocks on it that seem to still be good. My question is are all M10's the same? Old vs New. I know shocks are different. If I take this and get the Yamaha mounting kit will it work in a 02 Viper? Is there 1st,2nd,3rd generations of M10's?

There are 2 generations of M10 - up to 2001 and after 2002 I think. You should get the shocks rebuilt and have the M valve update and the FICHT (sp) update done to the shocks. Check out the teamfast.com web site or maybe give them a call tomorrow. They are very helpful and will be able to tell you all you need to know.

if it is older than 96 or so, I would not even bother, as the skid will not be as good as the stocker, unless you dump enough money into it to buy a new one anyway.

I will get it Monday or Tuesday. I havent even seen this yet. I will see if there are any numbers on it and call Fast as stated in other post to see what year it is. Do they have a label to look for on them or a stamp of some sort?

you are correct, 02 and newer is the new style. If it's older than that you can update it to current, if it has fox shocks, rebuild them right away, they were out every year. I have the ohlins shocks on mine and they usually last 3 years. And their a better ride.

If I were you I'd see if you can get just the mount parts you need from Fast.About the only thing that you need is the mounting plates,as you already have the cross shafts front mounting arms and bolts. This could end up saving you some money, otherwise your gonna have a bunch of extra parts that you don't need.If they won't cooperate I don't think it would be all that hard to make some plates.I think that that skidframe would look great powder coated, its cheap and very durable plus it would look like new.

There was a standard M10, then a metric M10, and then the new style when they started working with polaris around 2001. The new style has more cutouts in the rails for weight reduction ( I assume ); your's is not the new style. I stripped a set of purple rails with some cheap paint stripper I bought at the paint store. About 5 or 6 bucks plus a cheap paint brush to put it on with. Stripped them to like new condition. I also repainted one set. Stripped them first, used metal prep. to etch the aluminum, primed them with zinc chromate primer, and sprayed them with a spray can I had made up at the automotive paint store in an OEM color. They lasted excellent, no paint flaking or chipping. You will find the individual parts expensive from FAST, they want 100 bucks for just the two aluminum inside the tunnel plates. Better to just buy the kit.

I think the Polaris cross shafts are like a 1/6 wider than the Yammie's. If I remember right.
