NO SUCH A SLED AS THE 1979 SS 440. FIRST SS 440 WAS 1980. I DON,T BELIEVE THE EXCITER AND THE SS 440 USED SAME MOTOR, ANYWAYS JUST FIND YAMAHA NOS REEDS FOR YOUR EXCITER. 3:16 (tony)

Im looking for preformance reeds , and is there a top and bottom to the reads like does it matter witch way they go ?
reeds
Boyesen part# 533 I think for the reeds. they have an online store at their site. 58.00 or so. the bigger part goes on the bottom and the smaller petals on top. I picked up a set for my '78 Exciter. just need to put the chaincase back together and she's ready to fire up. I put a new Comet 108 on her too. Hope she likes it. he he

The 340 Exciter was a piston port. The 440 was reed valve. HPE has the reeds you are looking for.$55.95 www.hiperf.com
