I've got a 93 Exciter ST with a DG exhaust pipe. I bought a pair of flat slide carbs from a 94 Vmax 500 and was wondering if anyone knows what I will need in order to change from round slide carbs to flat slide carbs. I've already noticed that the jets are a different style and the flat slide carbs use one throttle cable and the round slide carbs have two cables. Any input is welcome. Thanks

Hmmm, they are 36's.
You should have got SX or 600 carbs, which are 38's...
I suppose you should try '93 SX cables, and choke cables, ect. I would imagine they are pretty close.
Stock SX Jetting should be a good starting point as well.

Are not the 1994-96 Vmax 5/600's Rack mounted and what about the center to center distance ?

As far as I can tell from parts numbers, diagrams, and service techs, the 93 SX, 94-95 Vmax 500 and 600's all use the same flat slide carb setup. The part numbers are exactly the same.

Still the 93 SX with the Flatslides had a different(?) cylinder design than the Standard Exciter with Roundslides and I wonder if they would fit ?

Well I am going to be putting a set of 38mm Mikuni flat slide carbs on mine this spring. The ate a few mm smaller in length but are 1mm larger around than the VM 38mm round slide, were they mount to the engine. It should help me with the thin air were I ride at.

I measured the center to center distance and it is the same on the sled as the carb rack. The flat slide carbs are narrower but I am going to be removing the air box and using K&N filters instead. As far as the engine being different, the block on the SX is the same block used on all Exciter II's, it is just ported differently.
