Snowmobile related death #1 in MN.
A guy in Ely, Mn decided that there was enough ice on the lake to take his sled out. His impatience cost him his life!
This is just a reminder that fun and good times on a snowmobile can quickly turn to tragedy if we don't all use our heads.
I wish each of you a winter of great riding and SAFE riding.

Here goes nothing: Also PLEASE remember to stay on your side of the trail. Accidents happen but lets remember that some of us have a wife and kid(s) dependent upon our income. Happened too many times up north (WI) last year that I almost got creamed by guy coming around a right hander that were going too fast and they shot into my lane - it really took the fun out of riding to breakfast with my dad. Leaders- Please set a safe pace! (OK - off my soap box now!) :)

watch out for others....

^^^ Nope very good point...

Besides the not yet frozen or does not freeze in spots lake recomendations that we give our students keeping to the right and driving a safe speed is very important.

I know we all like going fast. Speed has its place. Know your sled, know the trail, know your surroundings.

A few years ago my Father was leading a group of 15 half way between Paradise and Pine Stump and was hit by an guy riding second in a group of 2. He was too fast and out of control. He and his leader were nearing the end of a long straight section and about to enter a narrow twisty section. He clipped my dad's Polaris in the back of the tunnel. No one was hurt but the sled was damaged bad enough for Liberty Ins. to total it. The other driver did not even bother to stop. I was unable to stop him and there was no way I could catch up with them after they took off.

Sometimes it does not matter how good a driver you are it only matters if your in the right place at the right time.

fuzz-butt - That sucks. People F up - that's a given - but they at least be responsible for their mistakes? Takes a lot of hurt out of it. That would have sent me over the edge. If my dad would have given me the thumbs up I would have been after them right away. That's just terrible. Even so I guess you can't always catch people either.

We're all human, we all make mistakes - I guess it's important to remember that on the trail too. Can be tough to keep you cool when somebody just totaled your sled though.
