I have been running your jetting and clutching setup and all I can say is wow, it feels like a different sled!Anyways in all this sled setup stuff I have not heard any belt recommendations, I just put a new ultimax 3 on and have ran them for a while, what do you think? Also the best that I can tell so far I'm turning about 8300-8400 rpm's on top end, should it be 8500 exactly or is'nt this all that critical? It does seem to pull well at that rpm on the top end.

I'm not going to step on Turk's toes but I am going to hazzard a guess that he will say the 8DN Yamaha belt.
Stay with the Yamaha branded belts.
I use the 89L and it runs great. My Father's 700 Viper has the 8DN and it too runs great. No shreading belts since we came back to the stockers. We used to toss the Dayco belts in the Phazers & Exciters all the time. At times I wonder why I am even carrying a spare belt anymore.

8dn belt will raise rpm,s by 2-300. The softer ultimax belt will work good for short drags. The 8dn belt will raise your rpm,s on top & give you more top end. Your rpm,s are perfect for a 5-700' race but for a long run you want to see 85-8600 rpm. You can achieve this with the ultimax belt by lightening up the primary.

Ok, thanks in all actuallity most of my runs are short, but I have a good 8dn laying around, maybe I'll throw it in there and try it out.It sure is snappy in the low and midrange now, will the 8dn take away from that?I get about 2000 or so miles out of a ultimax belt before its looking rough, I take it the yammi belts last longer?

Yes they definately can. Obviously it depends almost 100% on riding conditions and engine/clutch calibration but it is hard to blow an 8DN belt
