curious what the differences are between a mtn viper and a regular viper??? if i got a 121" viper i would extend it to at least 136 but im curious what route i should take??? buy a mtn version or a regular one and long track it....most of my riding is northern mn and UP michigan but am hoping to get out west once or twice a yr too...mostly off trail riding is what i like best so cornering and top end are not huge priorities for me...thx for any and all advice/suggestions...

I 136'd my Viper and now wish I had saved my money and bought a 05 or newer Mountain Viper IMO. Like to off trail boondock mostly, go out west 1 to 2 times a year or ride in the Iowa ditches

Differences That I Remember
- Longer Tunnel
- 144 skid (2003-2004 had Proaction - 2005 had ProMountain)
- Lower Angle of Attack
- Longer Track (144 x 2)
- Shorter radius rods (skis closer together)
- Different shock mount angle on trailing arms
- Different gears
- Different drivers
- Forced Air Induction vents closed off in hood

Also 8EK weights (short track, versus 8DN-10 for the mtn.
Helix is a 47 for short track, 45 or 43 (dont remember which) for the mtn.
You can make your short track into a mountain sled pretty easy. Yamaha uses the same basic chasis for both.

i would longtrack a regular viper with tipped rail extensions. the tipped rails along with the wider front end will make it much more trail friendly.

The mtn also has no sway bar, and no mounts for one if I remember right. Maxdlx

Paul, the Viper Mountains have the mount for the sway bar.
