Alright heres the deal when I pulled the needles there were already in the number 3 clip postion with the 2 washers UNDERNEATH the e-clip. My SLP spec sheet says set at 3 1/2, so does this mean I need to put them in the 4 postion with 1 washer on top and one underneath to achieve 3 1/2. Cause if I leave it in the 3 postion with one washer on top and one underneath, I'm actually leaning the needle out more than stock specs. I went to the tech pages and read up on clip postion but for some reason I'm still lost. So please break it down for me in idiot terms for me.

P.S. I lost one of the da** nylon washers too, didnt know there was 2 till after I pulled the other 2 slides. Anyone got a spare lying around so I dont have to go to the dealer to order just that??????? Please help if possible, Thanks

get yourself a 5/20 shim kit has a bunch of shims to give you more adjustability. start at 3.5 and do plug and piston checks. ski

Eric so your telling me keep it in the stock postion which is 3 then do what with the shims???? Just trying to do this correct and understand, cause I'm lost cause of the both shims being underneath from the factory.

Well I found the so called missing shim, it was stuck on the inside of the slide. So I'm clear on that aspect, now I just need to know where excatly does the 2 shims go. To achieve 3.5, gunna run postion 4 on the PTO cause of the staright across compression from the 22cc Peak head. Also running 50 pilot and 165 main on the PTO side just to be on the safe side.

read the pipe install directions, there is a diagram on there where to place the shims for proper clip hieght. if you dont have the instructions, you can down load them from slp online. they have option of both on top, one under one over, and both under. this helps get the half step positions. great tip to keep the plastic shims close to each other and "findable" is to, place a dab of grease on them so they stick together or to the top of the holder or bottom of slide. then you can always find them.

in a nutshell, 2 washers under, is the clip position. one over and one under is a half position. they dont say what 2 over is, i am guessing (and thats all it is) is 2 over is a 1/4 position. the washers are .04mm (approx .015 "thousandths) ski

better to start rich and come back, than to run lean and burn her down. can deal with a blubery motor, hard to deal with a blown up one.

the 5/20 kit comes from exhaust gas technology www.exhaustgas.com
gives you multiple thickness washers, for multiple adjustments. ski

What would you suggest would be a good baseline to start with? Set-up at the moment is SRX base, Opti-cool head gasket, Peak head with 22cc domes, BR9ECS plugs, running prem. of course. I was gunna start at PTO 4/50/165 Mid 3.5/47.5/162.5 MAG 3.5/47.5/162.5...... Clip position/Pilot/Main. And a shim kit will be nexted on my purchase list. But let me know if I should riching my baseline, and I will do so.

So if the clip is in the 4th slot with both washers under it in position 4, if it has one on top and one on bottom it's in 3.5 (leaner) and if it has both on top its 3.25 (leaner yet). Is that right?

Although some do it, it is not recommended to run both washers above the clip. In this setting the clip is riding on the slide instead of on a washer. I would expect this to wear over time on a trail sled and allow the needle to drop farther.

Because of this I don't think that it has a number assigned to it. If it did it could be 3.25 I suppose, but remember that this scale is not linear to begin with. It is simply a relative scale.
