why would you want to put viper cylinders on a SRX?

the pistons will thats about it.The power valves and cylinders are all differnt, they will bolt onto the engine...BUT... the exh port and all is differnt in length and the bolt pattern, so your srx pipes will not fit without making new manifolds to mate the pipes up to.

I've made adapters to make 'em work before. Valves are different tho.
Tom, as far as why? my bet would be he's busted an SRX one and he's got viper ones sitting on the shelf. Sure sucks to pay big bucks for a part when you've got one there that you can use with just alittle work. Particularly when there's 3' of snow outside and the part is 2 weeks away.

Those adpaters would need to be oval flanged at the cylinder, wider bolt pattern and the correct length to match the exh port length, get real... its not something the average person is gonna make in thier garage.
The viper is shorter exh port and if you simply adpated the flange to fit, 1st off the srx pipes wouldnt fit due to the angle change, they point down in a srx and straight out on a viper cylinder (2.) They wouldnt run at the correct rpm either because youd be shortening the head pipe considerbly by using a shorter exh port cylinder, effectively raising the rpm range of the pipe.
Amato, do yourself a favor and save yourself the grief and just get a replacement srx cylinder or trade the viper for a srx.

that's the easiest option, but not the only one.

plus youd need to port 2 other 98 cylinders to match the viper, unless you were really a glutin for punishment and changed all 3, they are all differnt specs! doesnt seem like a very reasonable option !

because it requires designing/building a part rather than just ordering one or cutting to a template?

No, better yet it might be a better option to carve it out of wood......., you could certainly make it work but would it be time worthy or even reasonable??????, come on, dont give out information which doesnt apply to the problem. How many people on here know how to build pipes, the actual fundamentals and hands on experiance? porting?
You can fix alot of things by monkey wrenching, but is it correct>??????? NO! and it certainly isnt the correct response to a very simple question. I could argu that a guy could make parts and stuff all day long, would it be the right answer,,,certainly not.
There isnt a whole lot of people on here that could have the needed tools, ability or the means to even pay a shop neccessary to build new header pipes, porting so lets not make this out to be something it isnt............ a easy swap!!!
