2000 MM skid in a 97 MM??

Has anyone had any experience with putting a 2000 MM skid in a 97 MM. I have spoke with MPI and a couple other guys and they say that you wouldn't just use the 97 to 2000+ update kit. They told me in fact that there is no template and that i just need to take measurements from a 2000 using the bulkhead as a reference since apparently the bulkhead is the same?? Any help including pivot measurements from a 2000 are appreciated.
