Hi! I just bought a Sno Sport and need some information in order to register it. The year is unknown.....does anyone know how to figure out the year from VIN code (it starts with an 87A). It is Black, no electric start.
Also, I need the gross weight. I didn't get an owners manual, so I really can't venture a guess.
I've been burning up Google pages trying to find the answer to these questions, with no luck. I can only hope that someone out there can help.
Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

I think if you call your local dealer with the vind they can tell you the year.

Here is Yamaha's site. You should find a phone number and E mail address there.

OK, So where exactly is the VIN on these things? Is it supposed to be on the tunnel??
Buddy of mine picked one up and can't find a vin anywhere. According to the Yamaha parts catalog, they were sold in 89,90,91. The snoscoots were 88,89,90.

The VIN number is located on the frame tubing in the back. If sitting on it, it'll be on your right side. They're kinda hard to read though...you'll need a light.
I obtained the year of mine by called a 1-800 # for Yamaha (got it off their web site) and having them run the VIN code. They were very helpful.
